Alpinestars Missile v2 Leather jacket Black / White

At a certain point in time, Alpinestars created a Missile Tech-Air motorcycle jacket, in an attempt to link a top-quality motorcycle jacket to an innovative airbag. Commendable but apparently, things could be improved and now, here’s the Missile V2: a motorcycle jacket that is 100% compatible with the Tech Air® 5-airbag system. Taking to the roads with race-worthy equipment, say.

In this V2, the Missile is made of sturdy 1.3mm thick cowhide leather, which comes as no surprise. Leather is still the best, most wear-resistant option. It’s just that you usually don’t move around very freely in it. Fortunately, Alpinestars has been making excellent up to phenomenal motorcycle (racing) gear for quite some time now, so there’s no need to worry. The Italians provide a pre-shaped leather cocoon and combine it – on the inside of what is something of a modern harness – with stretch Kevlar®. This one sentence gives away a lot of its characteristics: wearing comfort, sportiness, flexibility and an excellent fit with a lot of protection, all in one package.

It goes without saying: a close-to-full-fledged motorcycle jacket, in leather, this means that there are a few climatological limits. Riding through a heavy shower won’t be the best experience when wearing the Missile V2. This should come as no surprise but we’ll mention it anyway.

Back to impact protection. This is incorporated almost entirely from the MotoGP, with external sliders on the shoulders and elbows. Or what did you expect? DFS is what it’s called at Alpinestars, which stands for Dynamic Friction Shield. This is usually restricted to the shoulder area, but there’s a new addition with the exchangeable elbow slider. Internally, the Missile V2 carries another load of protectors. Alpinestars choses to go with the Nucleon Flex Pro-Armor protectors in shoulders and elbows: thin, flexible and comfortable. There are additional possibilities with the optional Nucleon Plasma back protector (level 2 certified) or Nucleon KR-CELLi back protector (level 1 certified) or Nucleon KR-R CELL back protector (level 2 certified, snap-on system) and/or the Nucleon Flex Pro Ci chest protectors.

The most important raison d’être of this V2-version is the preparation for the Tech Air® 5-airbag system. The Tech-Air®-concept is the result of years of research with loads of Alpinestars knowhow and knowledge. And actually, also the very first actual performing airbag jacket without tactile connection to the motorbike.

The motorcycle jacket can be combined effortlessly with a number of motorcycle trousers from the Alpinestars range with the connecting zipper.
